6 December 2004

I am writing this journal entry the morning of 12/8/04. It rarely happens that I do not write a journal entry a day after a particular day happens. There must be some sort of extenuating circumstance in order for this to happen -- and there certainly was today.
I was coming off of a strange last few days. Thursday night (12/2/04) I had some sort of seizure in the middle of the night. All my muscles tensed up, I turned white, I drooled -- it was a pretty scary scene. And then on Friday night, I had another kind of attack. Somehow, I managed to bite the hell out of my lower lip -- on both sides. I woke with blood all over my pillow. As well, my muscles were very, very sore, as if I had gone for a big race. Ostensibly, this was from another seizure of sorts on 12/3/04.
The weekend was followed by -- or I should say filled by -- exhaustion. I slept some huge hours that are uncharacteristic of me. It was capped by 16 hours of sleep on Sunday evening, 12/5/04.
So, all these data points were starting to add up in a big way. I did not think to call my experiences on Thursday and Friday "seizures," but at the time of this writing I am on anti-seizure medication, so it is probably a pretty safe conclusion that I indeed had seizures.
By 6 PM this evening, I was at the emergency room of Fairfax Inova Hospital. That is when an amazing blur of activity all began. Because I was in the state I was in AND because there was so much activity going on, it was very easy for me to lose track of all the things going on around me -- which was disconcerting unto itself. I'm used to having masterful control of all the details around me, but that was starting to change. Tonight was the start of a battery of tests to figure out what is going on with me.
