1 December 2004

*** The day before my very first brain cancer symptoms ***
David Larson is finally at a point where he can focus on the downstairs portion of my house. His time in November was largely focused on the installation of the upstairs windows (9 of them!). Now, he is focused on my space downstairs. Perfect timing, really. It is the month of December and the entire month can be spent making my space beautiful in all the ways that I want.
The first thing I am going to have David Larson focus on is the laundry room. That room has been incomplete since the last renovation in November of 2003. Finally, it will get done. That means the following:
• Installation of 3 recessed ceiling lights
• Removal of every door and the clothes rack so every square inch of drywall and pipe can be repainted. Some parts have not been repainted since the house was built back in 1985.
• Reconfiguration of the sound system so that the speakers are hidden from view.
• Reconfiguration of the undercounter lighting system (overcounter lighting system?) so it is more thoughtfully laid out and more concealed.
• Cleaning of all the space behind the washer and dryer.
• Installation of trim mold throughout.
• Concealment of the new visible power and water lines for the washer and dryer.
I can see this room coming together, and even more, I can see the last of my interior construction all being completed. If I do get all this done by the end of the year, I can focus my energy on setting up April 2005 projects to:
• Install a new kitchen floor.
• Upgrade the flagstone patio and entrance area.
• Complete my shed and porch area.
• Fix water drainage problems.
• Landscape the back of my house.
• Install new rails on deck.
After December, I can see the path to closure.
